I am finally learning the importance of family that love you for who you are and not what you may or may not be.

This past year I lost my godfather, my cousins, and the respect for family that believes in entitlement.

I gained so much more than I lost. A family that loves and accepts me for who I am, and who I am undoubtedly becoming. I had a hard time trying to rectify my cousin Kristina, and her girlfriend Sarah moving in. Since they've moved out though, we have become a lot closer. I love Kristina and her honesty and genuine warm heart. She works tirelessly at Nursing School and I respect her for her commitment as a nurse. She is more than I remember, and I am glad to have someone to talk to about things I can't quite sort out on my own. Sarah is equally as caring, and has truly made Kris a better woman. They can be ridiculous at times, but without them I am not sure how I would survive all this family drama. Kristina & Sarah are the rationality, to my irrationality.

Mia is more than I could ask for. I am without most of my cousins, but she makes up for all of them. Oh, and how I love Mari. She is wise beyond her years, and I am sure she is the only 17 year old I can hold an intellectually stimulating conversation with.

This Christmas was so good to me, as it made me realize that it is not size or quantity, but the quality of love you have surrounding you at any given time. It is nice to find myself in a place where judgment has no air to feed off of. While this Christmas was lacking in people, it was more abundant in love and acceptance than ever before. I am happy, and I am even happier to be sharing it with people, someone, who cares for me as much as I care for them.

I promise to write an entry for the year that is ready to go down in brilliant flames.
